This past May, Larry Bell, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Global Strategic Initiatives, accepted the President鈥檚 鈥淓鈥� Award for Exports on behalf of the University Colorado 羞羞视频. The President鈥檚 鈥淓鈥� Award is presented by the United States Department of Commerce to persons and organizations that make significant contributions to the expansion of the export trade of the United States. The award was presented by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, who cited the contribution of聽羞羞视频鈥檚 international students to employment growth at the university and strengthening the economy.

鈥淏ell pointed out that international education is the seventh largest export industry in the U.S. At CU 羞羞视频, 3,079 international students were enrolled in 2016鈥�17, up from 1,643 five years earlier.
鈥業t鈥檚 not just tuition we鈥檙e talking about,鈥� Bell said. 鈥楾hese students also rent rooms, buy food, buy clothes, buy cars. They spend money outside of simply tuition.鈥�
Nationally, international students have a $32 billion economic impact, he said. International students at CU 羞羞视频 contributed $106 million to the state鈥檚 economy last year and supported more than 1,600 jobs, according to NAFSA, the Association of International Educators.鈥�
