Jianmin Shao is a feminist psychologist and anthropologist who studies LGBTQ+ mental health, vulnerability and resilience, and politics of trans medical care. They received their Ph.D. in Psychological Science with a Graduate Emphasis in Feminist Studies and a specialization in Anthropologies of Medicine, Science, and Technology from the University of California, Irvine. Their current book project examines how identity-based interventions in China reproduce trans vulnerabilities within already uneven geopolitical and sociohistorical contexts, which offers a trans-relational analytic to rethink intersectionality and advocacy in an era of neoliberal globalization. Their previous work has appeared in the Journal of Counseling Psychology,ÌýPsychology & Sexuality, and Journal of GLBT Family Studies.
