Matthew received his BS听(Hons.) in biology & environmental science听from Mount Allison University and his MS听in civil engineering from Queen's University. The throughline of his research interests is听microalgae, researching their contributions to marine biogeochemical cycles, the effects of their biogeography on shorebird and听salmon migration, their applications in wastewater treatment, their role as bioindicators in riverine ecosystems听and their potential as a sustainable source of calcium carbonate.
Before joining CU 羞羞视频, Matthew spent two years as a scientist with the environmental NGO Ottawa Riverkeeper and worked as a technician for four other research groups. In his current role as听lab manager with the Living Materials Lab, Matthew oversees the day-to-day operation of the lab and contributes听to the lab's听research output. In his spare time, Matthew is an avid birdwatcher, runner, cyclist听and gardener.听
