The devastating war in the Middle East continues and dominates the news headlines. Many members of the campus community are directly impacted. They have family and friends in the region who have been hurt or worse. For weeks, tensions have been high on US university campuses, including CU ��Ƶ, and many students feel threatened and unsafe. Social media continues to be saturated with posts that often further inflame lingering frictions and mistrust and spread misinformation. Many have asked for more information and insights into the conflict and its decades-long histories.

Please join us for a program to continue discussions about the ongoing conflict that began shortly after the October 7 Hamas terror attacks. The public is invited to individual and group discussions with CU faculty experts on a range of sub-topics from antisemitism to the long history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. This event uses a more informal format and allows smaller groups of participants to discuss a specific sub-topic with a faculty expert.

Part of the 5th Annual Children's Book Festival, partnered with the CU ��Ƶ's School of Education.

In response to the alarming surge in challenges to literature, the Center for Humanities & the Arts (CHA) is taking a stand. The CHA is co-sponsoring a panel titled "Book Censorship and Honoring the Right to Read in K-8 Schools and Libraries" at the upcoming Children's Book Festival. The event aims to shed light on the critical issue of book bans and the preservation of academic freedom in educational institutions.

We invite teachers, students, families, librarians and all who are concerned about book bans and challenges to join us for the panel on Book Censorship and Honoring the Right to Read in K-8 Schools and Libraries. This panel event will take place on October 25, from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at the Canyon Theater & Gallery - ��Ƶ Public Library (Main Library). Opportunity to purchase the festival authors’ books, signing, and a reception will follow the panel.

Faced with the unfolding war and mass death in Israel and Gaza and potentially the entire region, we invite the campus and ��Ƶ communities to a panel discussion to shed light on the conflict's context and history. We are keenly aware that this is anything but an easy conversation and that there is a lot of pain and suffering, also experienced by many members of our communities on and off campus, but it is an important conversation to have and an institution of higher learning such as CU is one of the better places to have it. Please attend.
