Although the above 1907 photo suggests otherwise, entertainment for freshmen during the early 1900s can only be described as tame. In 1906 almost the entire class attended a party in the gymnasium to play 鈥淕oing to Jerusalem鈥� (musical chairs) and 鈥淒rop the Handkerchief.鈥� The real excitement was supplied by sophomores who attempted to break up the party by cutting the electrical wires and throwing water. Their malicious efforts were thwarted by the well-prepared freshmen who used candles when the electricity failed.
