Lee is a PhD candidate at the University of Colorado in ÐßÐßÊÓƵ studying food systems and environmental education. His research efforts focus on the power of community engagement and cross-cultural exchange to support grassroots empowerment towards a more harmonious social-ecological world. After completing his PhD he will pursue transboundary collaboration and educational work full-time.

ÐßÐßÊÓƵ the Project:

To better understand the role of participation in food relief and rescue we ask, Can a food rescue organization support stakeholder empowerment through participation in food security and decision-making, and if so, how? To answer this question, I will engage in a community-based research case study with ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Food Rescue (BFR), a local food relief organization in ÐßÐßÊÓƵ, Colorado. In answering this question, our aim is to understand community participation in this urban food security context, and to identify practices that may support future food relief decision-making efforts
