Maddie PolmearMaddie Polmear, advised by EVEN professor Angela Bielefeldt,Ìýis currently pursuing PhD in Civil Engineering, she previously received her BS with the EVEN Program and MS with the CivilÌýdepartment here at CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ.

MaddieÌýhas just been awarded the Ethics Division's Best Paper for 2018 as well as Best Paper of PIC IV for a paper she wrote titled "Faculty Perceptions of Challenges to Educating Engineering and Computing Students ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Ethics and Societal Impacts." This paper highlights Maddie’s research in which he conducted surveys, researched, and interviewed hundreds of teachers and their teaching techniques regarding the prevalence and importance of teaching ethics and social impacts. She discusses the obstacles and challenges that the professors encounter as well as highlights why ethics and societal impacts education for engineering and computing students should be an integral part of the curriculum.
