Taylor Budde joined the German Studies PhD program in 2018 after receiving his BA at the University of Minnesota and MA at the Ƶ. His work and interests involve intersections of myth, science, and culture in the 19thand 20thcentury, serialized, pulp, and “Weird” fiction, occultism, monsters, and film studies. His Master’s thesis titledOf Monsters and Märchenexplored the relationship between fairy tales and the monsters in Ludwig Tieck’sDer blonde Eckbert, Hans Christen Andersen’sDen lille Havfrue, and the brother Grimms’Hänsel und Gretel. Taylor has also taught in the Nordic department for the Vikings and Norse Mythology courses and was Lead TA in the 2017-18 academic year.
