Interested in writing an honors thesis? ÌýHear current thesis students present their research and reflect on the thesis writing process, followed by a Q&A session. If you've attended our symposium before, join us again to hear from new speakers!Ìý This is a great opportunity to learn more about designing your own project, from picking an idea to tackling the presentation of your findings and everything in between.Ìý Note:Ìý The only way to graduate with honors in the College of Arts & Sciences is by writing and successfully defending a thesis, so if you want to graduate with honors, this is a great way to learn more.

Our mixer series includes a variety of events, topics and styles, and usually focuses on making social connections:

Connections Mixer
We'll have lots of activities to do, opportunities to meet new friends, prizes to win, and tasty food to eat. Join us for: Giant Jenga, Giant Connect4, Cornhole, Bingo, Drawing and Coloring, Origami, Jigsaw puzzle, Card games, and more! Bring your friends and make some new ones!

Trivia Night
Students can come with a team or join a table when they get there. There will also be a team of professors competing, so come see if you can win against your teachers! The questions will come from a variety of categories ranging in difficulty. Winning teams will get to choose prizes, and we'll have snacks for everyone who attends.

Sidewalk Symposium
Co-hosted by the Honors Program and Undergraduate Research and Opportunities Program (UROP). ÌýSign up and participate in the Sidewalk Symposium! Create colorful visual presentations of your projects using nothing but chalk—with the help of a professional artist. You can create and share your chalk art anytime throughout the symposium. ÌýThis event is usually held in late April or early May.

Honors Journal Release Event

Join us in April for the release of our Honors Journal! Art show, food, live music, and discussion with published artists and authors!

Every semester, we invite a distinguished professor from CU to talk about a topic they are passionate about.Ìý Some examples of past lectures include Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Professor of German, Dr. Ann Schmiesing, speaking on "Misunderstood Ever After?Ìý The Brothers Grimm and Their Legacy"; Professor of Neuroscience, Dr. Zoe Donaldson presenting "It's not love, it's just dopamine"; and Professor of Dance, Donna Mejia, discussing "Creativity and Conventions: Forging Meaningful Exchange Between Innovation and Traditionalism".Ìý The Distinguished Lecture Series is open to all CU students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

Some topics we've covered in the past: ÌýThe Big Bang: ÌýThe Universe: Past, Present, and Future; Adolescent Mental Health in the Pandemic; Understanding Depression; Air Pollution and Participatory Research; and the Bizarre Lifestyles of Honeybees and Other Bees.

This series is composed of a variety of events to celebrate and encourage JEDI initiatives.Ìý We've offered workshops on interrupting racism, bystander training, and even building inclusive cities - keep an eye out for new topics and repeats of the faves.
