The agreement structures future research and academic programs aimed at creating the technologies, industries and workforce of tomorrow while growing the research synergies between the two entities today.</p><p>"This valued partnership with an aerospace industry leader meets our goals of developing tomorrow's leaders, being a top innovation university and conducting research that has a positive impact on humanity," DiStefano said. "We are proud of our long, productive and fruitful relationship with Lockheed Martin."</p><p>Four new research projects totaling $675,000 have already been identified and are planned for award in the September 2017 timeframe. These four new projects will be the first awarded using the new MRA and will provide support for graduate students who will work in close collaboration with their faculty advisors and Lockheed Martin sponsors. The projects cover technology areas spanning advanced electronics, signals processing and communications, and sensors technology. They will focus on:</p><ul><li><strong>Improving spacecraft, aircraft and ship power systems 鈥 </strong>Developing new techniques to improve broadband, linear radio frequency (RF) power amplifier efficiency for power constrained systems for space, airborne and shipborne applications.</li><li><strong>Increasing mission capability 鈥 </strong>Efficiently converting infrared (IR) radiation to DC power to recharge unmanned aerial vehicle batteries remotely.</li><li><strong>Increasing capability of satellites while reducing weight 鈥 </strong>Advancing technology related to Simultaneous Transmit And Receive Systems (STARS) to reduce the number of antennas on a communications satellite or to double their signal throughput.</li><li><strong>Improving power management for commercial and national security applications 鈥</strong>Developing novel architectures and control techniques to substantially cut the losses and reduce the size of power management in RF, digital and analog electronic systems for satellites, missiles, and other commercial and defense applications.</li></ul><p>鈥淐U 羞羞视频 researchers and faculty are focused on areas that will define America鈥檚 innovation future and Lockheed Martin is proud to support these efforts,鈥 said Keoki Jackson, Lockheed Martin CTO. 鈥淭hese projects will aid our national security and help the world become more connected. CU 羞羞视频 has an incredibly talented pool of researchers and we have high expectations that this new agreement will enable many new solutions yet to be explored.鈥&nbsp;</p><div class="ucb-box ucb-box-title-left ucb-box-alignment-right ucb-box-style-fill ucb-box-theme-darkgray"> <div class="ucb-box-inner"> <div class="ucb-box-title">Partner with CU 羞羞视频</div> <div class="ucb-box-content">Learn more about <a href="http://www.colorado.edu/industry/industry-partner" rel="nofollow">how companies work with CU 羞羞视频</a> or <a href="http://www.colorado.edu/industry/content/contact-us" rel="nofollow">connect with the Office of Industry Collaboration</a> to explore a partnership.</div> </div> </div><p>Kathryn Tobey, vice president and general manager of Special Programs at Lockheed Martin Space Systems, said the CU 羞羞视频 community is an integral part of Lockheed Martin鈥檚 local effort to collaborate with academia on the work Lockheed Martin is doing in Colorado.&nbsp;</p><p>鈥淚t is rewarding to see students visiting Lockheed Martin鈥檚 RF Payload Center of Excellence to collaborate, and we are proud to connect CU 羞羞视频鈥檚 highly-skilled talent with exciting research opportunities,鈥 Tobey said. &nbsp;</p><p>Lockheed Martin's support extends also to promoting faculty in the form of a Lockheed Martin Corporation Endowed Chair of Radio Frequency Engineering and a Lockheed Martin Junior Faculty Fellowship in the College of Engineering and Applied Science.</p><p>The first recipients of these prestigious positions are Professors Zoya Popovic and Taylor Barton in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering. Popovic is a Distinguished Professor, and her teaching and research has been focused on radio-frequency engineering for the past 27 years since she joined CU 羞羞视频. Barton will be the inaugural recipient of the endowment associated with the Faculty Fellowship for an outstanding junior faculty member whose research is focused on radio frequency engineering.</p><p>鈥淕rowing our collaborations with industry while conducting research that impacts people鈥檚 lives are key tenets to CU,鈥 Bobby Braun, dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, said. 鈥淭his agreement between CU and Lockheed Martin is a prime example of how this work can be carried out to benefit industry and its future workforce.鈥</p><p>CU 羞羞视频 strongly supports Master Research Agreements that further solidify and expand long-standing relationships between CU 羞羞视频 and industry partners in a variety of research pursuits, resulting in increased efficiency in proposal response, project award and post award administration for departments and institutes.</p></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div>Traditional</div> <div>0</div> <div>On</div> <div>White</div> Tue, 29 Aug 2017 21:57:12 +0000 Anonymous 282 at /industry
