This position was created to address a perceived and actual gap in professional development resources and preparedness within the PLC program. PLC is full of individuals who have incredible potential but are not prepared to utilize their job-place skills at the highest level when they leave the university. The goal of this position is to produce a series of workshops and other professional development opportunities to enable PLC students to access resources that can help them grow towards their goals and present themselves well as they transition into a career. This position will have a strong focus on working with the first-years and integrating professional development support into first-year lectures and recitations. This person will also be responsible for hosting open office hours, compiling resources, teaching portions of First Year Lecture, and hosting events/workshops over the entire academic year. Candidates for the position must have a high level of professionalism and be prepared to instruct and guide their peers towards the same level. Collaboration and communication are key skills in this position. Curriculum design and instruction will also be developed as a skill along with time management and networking. This position is best for an upperclassman but is not limited to juniors and seniors. There will be considerable outreach and public speaking in this role. Pay rate = $3000/academic year
