The , the University鈥檚 oldest institute, today announced it is seeking a new director from within CU 羞羞视频. Applications will be accepted until August 23, 2017.听Jim White, who served as INSTAAR鈥檚 director for the past ten years, is stepping down to take on a new role as interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in August.
INSTAAR is an internationally recognized leader in earth and environmental science, with a strong tradition in the study of high-altitude and high-latitude regions.听INSTAAR scientists also conduct research on atmospheric processes and on all major landmasses and oceans.听Institute researchers develop scientific knowledge of physical, biogeochemical, and biotic processes in the environment at local, regional and global scales, and applies that knowledge to further society's understanding of Earth system change.
The Director serves as INSTAAR's Chief Executive Officer, with primary responsibility for leadership by providing vision and strategy for the future, and by overseeing the institute鈥檚 management and financial operations.听INSTAAR also administers UCB's Mountain Research Station and fosters important collaborations with Front Range federal labs, including NOAA, NCAR and USGS.听The position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation.
Gifford Miller, professor of geological sciences and INSTAAR fellow and associate director, will serve as interim director of INSTAAR until a permanent director is identified. The search for the permanent director is expected to be completed this fall.
