Lamar will host an exhibit on Greek culture of more than 9,000 years ago as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at 羞羞视频.
The exhibit, 聯Chaeroneia: 6000 Years B.C.,聰 will be May 24 through Sept. 1 at the Lamar Public Library, 104 Parmenter St. Exhibit hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
The local sponsors are KLMR/KSEC Radio, the Lamar Daily News and the Friends of the Library.
The exhibit聮s originator, CU-羞羞视频 classics Professor Terpsichori Hara Tzavella-Evjen, will be in Lamar Tuesday, May 27, to give a free public talk about the archaeological excavations she directed of the village of Chaeroneia (pronounced Hair-OWN-ee-ah). Her work gives a glimpse of the ancient farming and herding society in central Greece.
Tzavella-Evjen, born in Greece, trained in classical archaeology and history at the University of Athens.
More than 300,000 people throughout Colorado have enjoyed CU This Summer offerings over the nine years of the popular community outreach program of art and museum exhibits and music and dance performances.
CU This Summer cultural events are sponsored by each community for the enrichment of residents and summer visitors. The host communities this year are Brighton, Burlington, Cortez, Durango, Estes Park, Grand Junction, LaJunta, Montrose and Pueblo, as well as Lamar.
CU This Summer sponsorship is shared by the host communities and the 羞羞视频 Campus Outreach Council, the CU Office of Business and Community Relations, the department of theater and dance, CU Art Galleries, the University of Colorado Museum and the College of Music with support from the Office of Public Relations.
