Did you know you could earn gift cards and discounts when you recycle, or refill your water bottle? With thePositive Impacts Points (PIPs)program, faculty, staff and students are rewarded for actions that benefit the environment, personal well-being and our community.

How it works

PIPs are a “currency of change”earned for logging actions that support sustainability, health and wellness. Using the PIPs Rewards mobile app, here are a few ways staff and faculty can earn PIPs at CU:

  • Refill your water bottle. Visit theEnvironmental Centerin UMC 355 to get a PIPs sticker for your water bottle. Scan the code when you refill your water bottle to collect 20 PIPs, up to three times a day.
  • Ride your bike. Visit one of thebike stationson campus to get a PIPs sticker for your bike. The sticker will have a QR code you can scan to get 50 PIPs per bike ride, up to three times a day.
  • Recycle on campus. Scan the QR code on campus recycling bins when you recycle to earn 20 PIPs.
  • Participate in contests and challenges. Complete these in the “Challenges” tab of the PIPs Rewards app.

Check the app and look for the PIPs logo for other chances to earn throughout campus! PIPs are awarded mostly through QR codes, Bluetooth beacons or added directly to your account for a few earning options.

What you can do with your PIPs

You have options when it comes to redeeming your PIPs:

  • for gift cards to places like Whole Foods, Patagonia, REI, Home Depot, Spotify and more.
  • to various non-profit organizations. This includes the CU PIPs Student Education Fund, which provides school-related financial support to CU students with thePIPs for School Scholarship.
  • Gift your PIPs to any other PIPs user through the.
