The Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement made progress this year in implementing plans and programs to make excellence inclusive, cultivate diversity, instill equity and improve the campus social climate.

Last May, Russ Moore and Kelly Fox announced the Unified Student Experience project, an effort to create a more streamlined online and in-person student experience aimed at transforming today's fragmented support structure for students.

Dedicated to academic excellence and enhancing graduate students' experience at CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ, the Graduate School realized a number of accomplishments this past academic year in partnership with the graduate students, staff and faculty.

An initiative launched last fall to improve students' campus experiences, this self-study and improvement-planning process represents a partnership among several units and has involved over 100 students, faculty and staff members.

The Space Utilization and Optimization Initiative will see three key milestones come to fruition over the coming weeks as part of the ongoing efforts to improve how CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ manages space on campus to best support students and the university's mission of education and research.

A three-year process, Academic Futures in its first year asked the community to bring forth ideas, without constraints or resource concerns, about what CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ might become and how we might transform teaching, learning, creative work and scholarship.

Many months into Academic Futures, while the committee strongly believes the process will produce important recommendations for the campus, they also see the process itself as an important victory.

Through MyCUInfo, students now have the ability to set their pronoun as part of their university record, making the information available in such places as class rosters.

Provost Russell Moore has named Robert H. McDonald as dean of University Libraries. McDonald, currently the associate dean for research and technology strategies and a librarian at Indiana University, will start Aug. 1.
