Robert H. Davis joins ranks of CU Distinguished Professors

Professor Robert H. Davis is known throughout CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ’s College of Engineering and Applied Science as an outstanding leader for his 25-year tenure as the Chemical and Biological Engineering department chair and then the dean of the college. Davis recently added another accolade to his extensive list of accomplishments: Distinguished Professor, the highest honor bestowed upon tenured faculty across the University of Colorado’s four campuses.

Gabrielle Dunn: Water resource/stormwater engineer

Gabrielle Dunn was introduced to civil engineering as a child hanging out at her parents’ office. Now a junior in CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ’s civil engineering program with a water focus, Dunn has one professional paid internship under her belt, will complete another one this summer and in the fall will move into the Bachelor’s Accelerated Master’s program.

Karl Linden takes reins as CEAE department chair

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering welcomes Karl Linden as the incoming department chair. Linden, a CEAE professor and an associate director of the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering, took the reins January 1 from Professor Rich Regueiro, who served as the interim chair since July.

Perseverance Award winner makes his academic dreams come true

Jeffrey Miller struggled his entire life with dyslexia and ADHD, but he worked hard to make his dreams come true. Miller will receive a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ in December. He's also the recipient of the 2022 Perseverance Award from the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

It wasn’t enough for Benjamin Chilton to study chemical engineering at CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ. While at the university he became a firefighter, a course assistant and student ambassador, as well as studied subjects far outside the breadth of engineering.

Laurel Hind, assistant professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, and the Hind Research Group use engineering tools to find answers to biological questions that researchers have been looking at for decades with limited success: how the body can best fight infection without attacking healthy tissue.
