Tutor Room

Welcome!

The tutor room is a resource that exists to provide free tutoring for all students enrolled in lower-division (1000- and 2000-level) geology courses at CU ذكذكتسئµ. We seek to provide our diverse student population with the tools needed for academic success. The tutoring room contributes to our department's focus on peer education, skill-building, and empowering students to become independent learners. Our tutors are happy to help with homework and other assignments, exam preparation, group projects, and general comprehension. Our goal is that students who come to the tutor room will leave each visit with both increased understanding the material and improved study habits. In that spirit, we do not to simply hand out answers.

Give a student an answer and they get an A for the day; teach a student the material and they get an A in the course (and actually learn something).

Tutors

All of the tutors are qualified to help with any intro geology topic, but each tutor also has one or more specialty topics that they can give more in depth information on.

  • Does the tutor room cost anything?
    • No! The tutor room is a 100% free resource
  • What topics do you tutor?
    • Our tutors are qualified to help with any topic covered in an introductory geoscience class, i.e. the 1000- and 2000-level courses offered in the Department of Geological Sciencces
  • Can I bring my friends?
    • Yes! As long as they are also there to get help with intro geoscience classes. The tutor room can physically hold about 15 students at a time. If the room is very full, you might have to be a little patient between questions since only one tutor works per shift and they have to divide their attention amongst all the students present.
  • Do I have to leave the room as soon as my question is answered?
    • No. You should come to the tutor room ready to ask questions (i.e. you should have already looked at/started your assignment), but it is okay to stick around and work on your assignment in the room as long as it's not completely full. More questions might pop up as you work and it will save you time walking back and forth!
