Alumna Ulyana Horodyskyj just spent 30 days in a 636-square-foot pod with three strangers and no internet access as part of NASA's Human Exploration Research Analog (HERA) project. Now she's one of 120 finalists, out of 18,300 applicants, under consideration for the real Astronaut Candidate Program.

As the fall semester comes to a close, several events locally and nationally have affected our campus community. We know that these events, along with the stresses of finals and the end of the semester can be difficult to manage for all of us. Please take care of yourselves and look out for each other. As part of his commitment to student success, the provost has convened a committee charged with developing a recommendation for considering a campuswide center for teaching and learning.

The second annual Diverse Learners Awareness Week, Feb. 20 through Feb. 24, is a time for the ÐßÐßÊÓƵ to celebrate the diversity of ways in which people learn. This year's focus is diversity in the classroom.

Every year, CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ teams up with the city of ÐßÐßÊÓƵ and Community Cycles to give out free bike lights in an effort to encourage the use of lights for nighttime biking. The giveaway event will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the UMC bike station.

CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ closed its employee housing survey Monday, Nov. 21, receiving a response rate of 49 percent. The survey results are meant to provide a better understanding of employees' needs and guide decisions regarding potential housing assistance programs.

Beginning Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, all Colorado High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) express lanes change to HOV 3, requiring at least three people in each vehicle.
