At the end of August, Chris Lehnertz (EPOBio’85) became the 19th superintendent of Grand Canyon National Park, one of the most famous and visited in the National Park system. The first woman to oversee Grand Canyon since it was first set aside as public space more than 100 years ago, Lehnertz is at home in America’s magnificent public spaces.

We partnered with the Latino History Project to preserve the valuable history of our local Latino community, which is now being taught across ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Valley and St. Vrain school districts.

After more than 20 years at the College of Music, Professor of Voice Patrick Mason has announced he will retire from teaching at the end of this academic year.

Three CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ professors have won prestigious fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies. Gerardo Gutierrez, Rebecca Maloy and Mithi Mukherjee are among 69 fellows chosen from 1,100 applicants.

CU head coach Mike MacIntyre has been named the Walter Camp 2016 Coach of the Year, joining Bill McCartney (1989) as the only coaches in Colorado history to be named the National Coach of the Year. The honor for MacIntyre comes on the heels of being named the Pac-12 Conference Coach of the Year on Tuesday.

You may have seen that conservative journalist Milo Yiannopoulos will be coming to CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ on Jan. 25 at the invitation of two student groups, the College Republicans and Turning Point USA. Some of you have expressed your concerns on social media, in letters to my office, and to me in person that CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ is allowing such a controversial speaker to hold an event in a campus building.
