Lucas Munce (MM candidate) received the 2011 DownBeat Magazine Award for Graduate College Outstanding Performances by a Jazz Soloist. More details about DownBeat鈥檚 34th Annual Student Music Awards will be announced in the magazine鈥檚 upcoming June issue. The CU Jazz Studies program has won 15 Student DownBeat Awards since 2002 in numerous categories.

On April 25, University of Colorado President Bruce Benson today announced Creating Futures, a $1.5 billion comprehensive fundraising campaign, the most ambitious in university history, which will benefit people, programs and places across CU鈥檚 four campuses.

n April 8, 2011, the College of Music hosted the first CU Invitational Orchestra Festival. The festival involved the participation of three orchestras from 羞羞视频 High School, and orchestras from Legacy High School, Lakewood High School and Cherry Creek High School.

Professor of Voice Julie Simson, accompanied by Instructor Christopher Zemliauskas, performed Die zwei blauen Augen von meinem Schatz (The two blue eyes of my Beloved) from Mahler鈥檚 Leider eines fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer) in chamber concert at MahlerFest XXI in January 2008.

The Glenn Miller Archive at the 羞羞视频 American Music Research Center has acquired one of the world鈥檚 most significant collections of Big Band Era recordings and memorabilia. The Ed Burke Collection 鈥� named for its shepherd and founder 鈥� contains approximately 1,400 reel-to-reel tapes containing hundreds of hours of live radio programs featuring virtually every musician of major importance during the Big Band Era.
