As part of the eighth annual Live Free Weekend, the CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ community is being invited to take a pledge to forego alcohol and drug use for 96 hours from Sept. 22-26.

Managers, supervisors and HR liaisons are invited to attend a 45 minute, in-person briefing about a new, comprehensive year-long onboarding program for new employees.

All CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ students are automatically enrolled in the Student Gold Health Insurance Plan for the 2016-2017 academic year and charged the semester premium of $1,889.50, unless they actively change their selection by Sept. 16.

With a handful of awards recently bestowed upon CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Assistant Professor Sabrina Spencer, this top-notch international biomedical researcher continues on the fast track to success.

A new lounge opening this week at the University Memorial Center will provide students with a place to collaborate, study, socialize or just relax.

On behalf of the CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ leadership team, I am pleased to provide an update on our university’s Inclusive Excellence initiative.

CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ ranks No. 38 in the nation among public institutions, or No. 92 overall, in U.S. News & World Report’s undergraduate rankings for 2017. The data, in which both business and engineering programs went up compared with last year, represent long-standing marks of excellence from the publication, a showcase of CU ÐßÐßÊÓƵ’s offerings.

Valerio Ferme, professor of Italian and associate dean for the arts and humanities, believes that a liberal arts education not only prepares students to adapt to a constantly shifting economic landscape, but also enriches their human experience. "People now change jobs often, requiring completely different skills in 10 years. (Humanities) students have the skills that allow them to move between jobs and not become obsolete."

Well, fellow buffaloes, our school year is officially underway. We are a few weeks into school now, we beat the CSU Rams, and the first round of midterms are fast approaching. Organizations on and off campus are also hard at work and still have positions open and available. CU Student Government is one of those organizations and we are looking for passionate, hardworking and fun-loving students who want to be involved on campus.
